A video is going viral on social media showing several armed individuals running around a school campus while multiple gunshots are heard. Users are sharing this clip claiming it shows a firing incident at Patna High School, raising serious questions about Bihar’s law and order situation.

The Instagram handle bihar_youth_congress posted this video with the caption: “A person who asks questions to the government is murdered, and here, gunfire breaks out in broad daylight at a school in the state capital, Patna. Although the government has changed in Bihar, questions regarding law and order still remain.”

A user named MUKESH YADAV shared this video on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, ‘Come to our Bihar—where in broad daylight, thugs protected by power enter schools with weapons and fire shots…! Now even schools in Bihar are not safe, so who will protect the children.’

Fact Check:

During the investigation of the viral video, the DFRAC team found that this video is not a criminal incident of armed individuals opening fire at Gardanibagh High School in Patna. This is a video from a film shoot. During the investigation, we found the same video posted on a Facebook account, where it was described as a film shoot. A user named Jitendra Mohan Pintu Raj shared the video and wrote, ‘Today, a film shooting, which is called a web series, was going on at Patna High School Gardanibagh.’ (English Translation)

On YouTube, another user also shared a related video and mentioned that the Bhojpuri movie “Samrat” was shot at Gardanibagh High School in Patna.

Upon further investigation, we found a post from the official social media handles of the Patna Police, which stated that the viral video was of a film shoot at Gardanibagh High School in Patna. Regarding the viral video, the police stated, ‘In relation to the video/photo being made viral on #Social_Media (Patna High School Gardanibagh), it is clarified that this is part of an authorized film shooting, for which prior permission was duly granted by the competent authority. The said video/photo is being #circulated with #misleading facts, creating confusion among the general public. The public is requested not to believe such misleading and unverified information and to rely only on information released by official sources. Strict legal action in accordance with the law will be ensured against individuals who spread rumors by circulating misleading and false information.‘ (English Translation)
