A video is going viral on social media. In the video, a Muslim woman wearing a burqa can be seen confronting a man holding a country-made pistol in the middle of the road. Users sharing the video are claiming that the accused belongs to the Hindu community. The text written on a version of the video posted on Facebook reads, “The criminal is Hindu, so Baba’s bulldozer will not run. A Muslim accused is needed for the bulldozer.”
The caption on the Facebook post reads, “In Prayagraj, bullies allegedly opened fire while brandishing a country-made pistol at a Muslim woman… and the Chief Minister claims that the state has become crime-free.”(English Translation)

Sharing the same video on X (formerly Twitter), a user wrote in the caption, “In Prayagraj, Hindu goons threatened a Muslim woman in broad daylight and dragged her on the road.”

Fact Check:
The DFRAC team found during its investigation that there is no communal angle to this case, and the accused person is not a Hindu either. In fact, this entire matter is related to a land dispute, and both parties involved belong to the same community. This incident took place near the Esipur intersection in the Jhusi police station area of Prayagraj. During the investigation, we found a report by Dainik Bhaskar regarding this incident. The viral video can be seen in this Dainik Bhaskar report.
According to the report, “An altercation broke out between two parties near Esipur intersection over a land deal. As the dispute escalated, a physical fight began, during which a young man opened fire with a country-made pistol. The bullet hit a young man in the thigh, injuring him. Reports suggest that the property registry could not be completed despite the payment of an advance amount for the land deal. The two parties had been involved in a prolonged dispute over the matter. On Monday, the dispute turned violent when the money was demanded.”

Meanwhile, we also found a report by Prayagraj News that provided details of the incident and the identities of the accused. According to the report, the accused were identified as: 1. Sonu alias Samsuddin Ahmed (32), son of late Farmood Ahmed alias Bacche, resident of Isipur Malawa Khurd, Jhunsi Police Station area, Prayagraj district. 2. Inzamam (26), son of Qamrul Hasan alias Guddu, resident of 123 Sadiyabad Bada Baghada, Colonelganj Police Station area, Prayagraj district.
To gather more information, our team contacted the Jhunsi Police Station. The police confirmed that both parties involved in the case belong to the Muslim community. A case has been registered against the accused, and they have been arrested and sent to jail.
Conclusion:
DFRAC’s fact-check clarifies that there is no communal angle in the viral video, and the accused individuals are not Hindu. The incident is related to a land dispute, and both parties belong to the same community. Therefore, the claim being circulated on social media is misleading.
