Internet users are sharing an image-based claim that depicts a notice of a Swiss hotel. In this image, a notice is displayed specifically for Indians that says, “DON’T PACK BUFFET FOOD IN YOUR PURSE”. A text in Urdu has also been inserted in this image, which also repeats the same message from the notice.

A user on X shared this image with a caption on it, “Message from a Swiss Hotel to Indian Tourists”.

The image was also posted here and here.

Fact-check

The fact-checking analysis of the DFRAC team determined this image to be fake. No credible media houses have reported the display of such a notice in a hotel in Switzerland. However, the claim made here can be traced back to July 2019. Prominent industrialist Harsh Goenka posted an image on his Twitter (now known as X) that shows a long notice sheet of a Hotel in Switzerland in 2019. This notice was specifically for Indians, which mentions various rules and etiquette that they must follow. Thereafter, a racial controversy sparked regarding the notice, and the Hotel apologised for the same. The hotel clarified that the notice could be misconstrued as racism, but it was related to the complaints the hotel received.

Conclusion

Therefore, the image is fake and visually manipulative. The original image of the notice was posted in July 2019 by Harsh Goenka. And for displaying such a notice, the Hotel had apologised instantly.
