On social media, a video of actor Pankaj Tripathi has gone viral. In this video, the actor can be seen condemning the BJP’s demand to vote in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections. While sharing the video users claim that “Tell the BJP people- I am not a fool.”
Fact Check
During the investigation, DFRAC found that this video is digitally altered. We found the original video on the official X handle of UPI with the caption “A Moongfaliwala receives a message claiming he has won a lottery and must click on an attached link to claim his prize money. Will he give in to temptation, or find a smart solution? To find out what happens, watch the full video. #MainMoorkhNahiHoon.” In this video Tripathi can be seen discussing about how to save yourself from UPI fraud messages.
Furthermore, we also found a same video on the YouTube channel of ‘UPI chalega’ titled Peanutwala | Fake lottery link | UPI security awareness.”
Using AI cloning voice, the voice of Pankaj Tripathi has been manipulated
Conclusion
It is evident from the DFRAC’s fact check that the viral video of Pankaj Tripathi condemning the BJP’s demand to vote is digitally manipulated. The original footage, part of a UPI security awareness campaign, features Tripathi discussing online fraud prevention and has no political content.
