Fact-Check: Did Security Forces arrest two Kashmiri Youth In J & K? Here’s the truth

Some Pak handles took to social media platform X(formerly Twitter) and claimed that Indian troops arrested 2 Kashmiri youths in Baramulla & Pulwama under baseless allegations of pro-freedom activism.

An account with the name Hello Pakistan posted an image showing Handcuffed hands and wrote: “Indian troops arrest 2 Kashmiri youth in Baramulla & Pulwama under baseless allegations of “pro-freedom activism.” These arbitrary arrests expose India’s brutal strategy to crush dissent & the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination”

Fact-check

In the probe, DFRAC team found that Security forces arrested a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist and a terror associate in two separate operations carried out in the Pulwama and Baramulla districts of Jammu and Kashmir

A Google keyword search led us to some latest reports from HT, Rising Kashmir, and ETV Bharat. According to these reports, a (LeT) militant in Tral, Pulwama, has been arrested by the security forces in a joint operation. Incriminating materials along with arms and ammunition including a pistol, 18 pistol rounds, and two magazines have been recovered from his possession,

Further, the reports stated that a terrorist associate had been apprehended in Baramulla. The J & K police also recovered an AK-47 rifle from his possession.

Conclusion

It is clear from DFRAC ‘s Fact-check that the claim of 2 Kashmiri Youths arrested by security forces is misleading, In reality, a (LeT) militant and a terror associate have been arrested by the security forces in two specific operations.
