Fact Check: Video of attempted r*pe of a minor girl in Pakistan falsely linked with India

On social media, video of a man thrashing a young boy has gone viral. While sharing the video users claim that “PREDATOR FROM INDIA GETS CAUGHT IN THE ACT!”.

Fact Check

On Investigation, DFRAC found a report form Punjabkesari published on 13 Dec 2023 stating “Peshawar: A case of kidnapping and r@pe has come to light in Pakistan. In Sindh, Pakistan, a minor boy kidnapped an innocent girl and took her to a graveyard and tried to r@pe her. During this, some boys from the village heard the girl crying in the graveyard, so they went and found the boy and saved the girl from him”.

Furthermore, we also found a tweet from zahacktanvir tweeted on 12 Dec 2023 with caption “In Pakistan, this demon kidnapped the little girl and took her to the graveyard to R@PE HER. Two people found him and saved the girl from him. He deserves more than that!”.

Conclusion

It is evident from the DFRAC’s fact check that this video is not from India but from Peshawar, Pakistan. Therefore, the claim of social media users is misleading.
