Fact-Check

Have Indian Soldiers been arrested by Chinese Troops? It would definitely hit the headlines in the mainstream media. However, no such media outlets have been found reporting this news.

Upon reverse-searching the keyframes generated from the viral video, we found that several users have shared this video 2 years back suggesting that it was from 2020 Galwan Valley clash. Taking cue from this, we conducted a keyword search in this context and discovered some reports from Business Standard and India Today published in the year 2020 citing that the Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh witnessed a terrible face-off. It was due to the construction of infrastructure in Ladakh & increase in local civilian activity on the Indian side of LAC.

Additionally, other reports from The Times of India, The Hindu and India Today from June 2020 further stated that soldiers from both sides suffered casualties during the 2020 Galwan Valley face-off. At least 20 Indian Army personnel and 43 Chinese troops were critically injured and later succumbed to injuries in the violent face-off in eastern Ladakh’s Galwan Valley.

Conclusion

It is clear from DFRAC’s Fact-Check that the viral video showing injured soldiers has been shared misleadingly on X. In fact, the video is from 2020 Galwan valley face-off, not the recent one.
