Various X users, recently shared a video of collapsing buildings claiming it to be a video from Taiwan which is currently hit by a massive earthquake. A user shared the video and wrote the caption, “#BREAKING: Multiple buildings have collapsed after a Pair of Massive 7.5 Earthquakes Strikes Triggering Tsunami Warnings”.

To determine the authenticity of the claim, DFRAC team investigated it using reverse image searches and cross-referencing with credible sources. In the process, we discovered that this video is not from Taiwan but instead originated in China in 2021. A You Tube video from USA Today confirmed that it depicts the controlled demolition of 15 unfinished buildings that stood next to each other for seven years. ( you can check the video here )
