News Anchor and Senior News Editor Aman Chopra shared a video on the Social media site X(Twitter) and wrote: “Italian Flag”
Furthermore, a media house named Panchjanya also shared this video on X(Twitter) and wrote: “The land of India. Flag of Italy. Support of Hamas and Palestine”
Moreover, the video was also shared the Tejinder Singh Bagga, National Secretary of BJYM (Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha) as well as other users on X(Twitter).
Fact-Check
To verify the authenticity of the above viral, the DFRAC team examined this video minutely and found ‘Welfare Party Kerala’ written on the poster shown in the video, which can be seen in the screenshot provided below.
Following this, our team investigated the official social media accounts of the Welfare Party Kerala. On Facebook, we found some pictures related to protests taken out by the Welfare Party Kerala, showing Italian Flags in the video are indeed the flags of the Welfare Party Kerala.
In addition to that, we also found the live streaming of this protest shared on the official page of the Welfare Party of Kerala.
Conclusion
It is clear from DFRAC’s Fact-Check, that the claim of social media users, regarding the above viral video, including Aman Chopra, Tejinder Singh Bagga and Panchjanya is completely false and misleading since the flag shown in the viral video is indeed the flag of Welfare Party Kerala, not the Flag of Italy.
