A video is going viral on social media. In this video it can be seen that some people are holding a young boy and beating him. The girl has multiple cut marks on her neck, yet she refuses to put the video on social media. On one hand, people are thrashing the young man, while on the other hand, we can hear about taking the girl to the hospital for treatment.
A user named Ayodhya on Twitter captioned the video as, “Je baat, lo dekho, mohabbat ki dukan khul gayi?? Brought the Hindu girl to the park to kill her.”

Fact-check :
To verify the authenticity of the viral video, the DFRAC team first converted a few key frames of the video. Then reverse image search them on the internet. During this we got some media reports.
Newspaper Prabhat Khabar has published the news on September 16, 2019.
According to this news- Arvind Kumar, the alleged lover of the girl and resident of Chandwa, studying in a coaching center in Lalpur, attacked her girlfriend with a knife on her neck and left her bleeding. This was informed to the Pithoria police. Acting swiftly, the police arrested Arvind Kumar, son of Mahendra Saav. His bike has also been seized. An FIR has been registered on him at the statement of the girl student.
It has been told in the report that Arvind is a school friend of the student, he had come to Ranchi on Sunday with a bike. The girl and Arvind had gone to Patratu Valley and Dam from Lalpur, while returning, there was a dispute between the two regarding something. After this, Arvind stopped the bike near a tree saying that it was strong sunlight and both of them sat under the shade of the tree. Meanwhile, till the girl could understand anything, Arvind stabbed her on the neck with a knife.
At the same time, other media houses have also covered this incident.
Conclusion:
It is clear from DFRAC’s fact check that the viral video is almost four years old, from 2019 and the incident is from Ranchi. Also, according to media reports both the boy Arvind Kumar and the girl belong to the same community, there is no communal angle in this, hence the claim of social media users is misleading.
