The IPL finale match that was supposed to hold on May 28th was rescheduled to May 29th due to heavy showers in Ahmedabad. Again, the game was interrupted because of rain on the reserve day, resulting in the second innings being reduced to 15 overs.
Meanwhile, World’s largest cricket arena, the Narendra Modi Stadium, ia all over the mainstream media and social media for all the wrong reasons during the 2023 IPL finals.
A picture is shared by many social media users claiming that the stadium was dried with the help of ‘Iron’ and ‘Dryers’. A verified user by the name of ‘Actual India’ writes, “Iron box and hair dryer,Peruki matram world’s richest board #CSKvGT.”
Fact Check:
On using certain keywords, we found some reports on mainstream media that mentioned the use to sponge to dry the stadium but here we do not find any mention of iron and hair dryers.
On further investigation, we found a report dated 6th Jan,2020, that shows the image getting viral in recent times.
We also found a report by ‘The Outlook’ that featured both the images dated 6th Jan 2020. And according the the report it was the first T2O between India and Sri Lanka in Guwahati which was eventually called off.
Conclusion:
With the investigation it is found that the pictures of stadium getting dried off using an Iron Press and Dryer are from the year 2020 and not of recent times. Hence the claim by social media users is Misleading.
