Fact Check: Did a Hindu extremist man throw a Hijab-clad girl on the ground?

A video of a man throwing a child on the ground is going viral on the internet. This brutal act was caught on camera when a man picked a Hijab-clad child and then threw her violently on the ground. Sharing the video @muslim2day wrote, “في ولاية كيرالا الهندية هندوسي متطرف يضرب بوحشية طفلة هندية مسلمة (٩ أعوام) لمجرد أنها في طريقها لمدرستها الإسلامية !!

Fact Check

On reverse image search of different keyframes of this video, the DFRAC team found a report from India Today about the same incident.

According to the report, the man is identified as Abubakar Siddique. The Police arrested the man after the girl’s parents filed a complaint against him on Thursday. This incident took place near Manjeshwar in Kerala’s Kasaragod.

When the video surfaced on social media, it caught the outrage of the netizens. President,Bharatiya Janata Party -Mumbai Minority Morcha Member CWC, Wasim R Khan shared the video with the caption, “In the form of a human, this wolf Abubakar Siddiq should be punished severely, only an animal can do such an act with this 9 year old girl.” – English Translation

Conclusion

The violent act of lifting a young girl child and throwing her on the ground is highly condemnable. However, there is no communal angle involved in it as both are of the same community. Therefore, the claim that a Hindu extremist man flunged a Muslim child on the ground is misleading. And, sharing this video under the hateful hashtag of #IndianMuslimsUnderAttack shows a shrewd narrative to instigate communal hatred.
