As we live in the era of information warfare. The major source of information that we get is from the social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram. As these days people spend a lot of time on these social media sites, and we tend to believe that most of the information given to us is true.
But this is not the case always. There are many agenda-driven accounts on social media platforms. These accounts provide manipulated information to fulfill their narratives. Here in this exclusive report, we are dealing with one such tactic of username changing.
Twitter Accounts Exposed!
In this report, we are exposing people who buy Social Media handles with a large number of followers and change their profiles. It may be for propaganda or personal use. Further, we will also analyze their previous and present narratives.
Moreover, there are a plethora of such accounts that keep on changing their usernames. In this DFRAC exclusive series, we will expose these accounts and their hidden narratives in the coming days.
Any user can change the username as many times as he like. But, the User ID is something that is unique to every account and it can’t be changed. And, that’s what we have taken as the base of our whole analysis. Even though, after changing the username, the user had deleted all the previous posts and had changed every other information like bio, location, name and so on, he can still get caught. We have taken the unique UserID and the archived posts of the previous username to debunk these accounts.
1. Muhammad Shafique
The very first account that we are taking is @PTI_ki_cheeti who is now @mms_isb. (UserID: 710157268671660032)

This account was previously run by the name of پی ٹی آئی چیتی(PTI Cheetah). The account had tweeted a lot in support of the former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI).
It is noteworthy that the bio, occupation, location and the background picture of both the accounts have not been changed. @mms_isb calls itself as Politician, Social media activist PTI Social media PM Imran khan zindabad in its Twitter Bio. Except the username other thing that have changed is the display picture. Now, the profile picture of the female is replaced by a male. The account have 212.2K followers.
And, this Id also tweeted many posts in support of Imran Khan as well as PTI. Like @PTI_ki_cheeti, many of the posts of @mms_isb is in Urdu.
2. Sultan Bhutto سلطان بھٹو सुल्तान भुट्टो
Previous Username of this account was @Mahii_writes and the current Username is @sultan_kgn (UserID: 1278259746928070656).
This ID has posted some of the personal thoughts in the form of poetry. Further, the account have tweeted in support of Owaisi. The account changed its name from Mahii to Dr. Mahira. She claimed herself to be a doctor who is from Mumbai.
Having 76.3k followers, @sultan_kgn calls himself as Elected – District Vice President, Youth Congress Khargone & State General Secretary, Congress IT and Social Media Department, MP in his Bio. This ID has also posted some of the personal photos and thoughts in the form of poetry. Apart from this, @sultan_kgn have posted a lot targeting BJP. Like in one of the posts he wrote which can be nearly translated into English, “BJP has not made the present Hindu/Muslim only. Rather also made history Hindu/Muslim. The fight between Maharana Pratap and Akbar was not religious but political. History is India’s pride.. Present is fighting with media and Modia to save that pride.”
3. Ritika Maheshwari
Previous Username of this account was @muskan_Siddi and the Current Username is @ritika_talks (UserID: 1218494367360372736).
As we can analyze from the archived tweets of this account that the previous narrative of the account was to target BJP. Apart from this, many posts of @muskan_Siddi were in support of the Muslims.
@ritika_talks calls herself as a Banker | poet | Indori | in her Bio. Further, she also quotes those Tweets and views are always Personal | Likes and RTs are not Endorsement. This Id have also has posted some of the personal photos and thoughts in the form of poetry. This Id have 40K followers.
Apart from this, many sarcastic tweets on the present governance. One of which can be translated into English as “Hunger, fear, unemployment are raising their heads, and we are adamant on caste, religion, religion. “Another such tweet is, “Did any devotee buy a plot in Kashmir?”
4. Yogi Adityanath Fan
Previous Username of this account was @arnabgoswami47 and the Current Username is @yogiji_fan (User Id: 1077870808041775104).
The narrative previously followed by this account was to target Muslims, Congress and the former INC president Rahul Gandhi. In one of the Tweets the account tauntingly wrote “Munnawar Farooqui who was saying in CAA Protest “Modi my papers got burnt in 2002 riots. Now even his father will show the paper for bail.” In another tweet targeting Rahul and the Congress party it wrote, “Congress is very angry on declaring the Statue of Unity as the eighth wonder! They are” saying what was missing in Rahul.”
This account calls himself a fan account of the current CM of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath. Moreover, the account carry more or less similar narrative of targeting Muslims, Congress and the former INC president Rahul Gandhi. For example in one of the Tweets this account wrote, “Stop atrocities on Muslims or else India All Muslims will go to Pakistan.~Javed Akhtar”
5. Skiing Megan
Previous Username of this account was @Zainab_Fatimaa and the Current Username is @skiingmegan (UserID: 1336302846979915777).
From the archived tweets we found out that the previous narrative of this account majorly includes of techniques to gain as many followers as it can. It has tweeted many posts requesting people to follow the account. Like in of the Tweets, the account wrote, “There are 17 left to have 10K followers, follow fast, will give follow back.”
@skiingmegan is a verified account having about 43.5K followers. The account describes itself as Blockchain News, media, PR, Marketing & Advertisement network in its Twitter Bio. This account majorly posts things related to crypto currency and Blockchain.
Conclusion
In this report we have covered five accounts having large number of followers who have changed their usernames. Most of these accounts like @yogiji_fan majorly work on setting political agendas. They also make derogatory remarks on some people and community to create hate. On the other hand, accounts like @Zainab_Fatimaa gain ample number of followers and then completely change their identity.
These account either sell their accounts to other party or they first use the tactics to gain followers and then carry forward their narratives. In the coming days we will expose other such account who keep on changing their user Ids and will analyze the motive behind it.
