Fact Check: Video of a Muslim hotelier serving food after spitting on the plate is AI-generated

Fact Check Fake Featured

A video is rapidly going viral on social media, claiming that a Muslim hotel operator is spitting in food before serving it to customers. While sharing this video, many users are criticising the Muslim community and making offensive comments.

On social media, a user named Manoj Srivastava shared the video and wrote: “Look at these snakes we have raised. If you call this spreading hatred, then so be it. We will hate these pigs. If you like food mixed with spit and excrement, then eat it every day. This food is a gift to the secular Congress INDI.” (English translation)

In addition, several other users, including Yogi Adityanath Fan (Digital Warrior)Godse ka Bhakt and Vinod Kumar Singh Raikwar, also shared this video with similar claims.

Fact Check:

During the investigation of the viral video, the DFRAC team found that it is not a real video from a hotel; instead, it has been created using Artificial Intelligence (AI). Upon closer inspection, the team noticed certain words written on the hotel’s signboard that do not belong to any Indian language. Such gibberish or unclear text is commonly seen in AI-generated videos.

Furthermore, the video shows the hotel operator spitting into a plate right in front of the customer before serving it, and surprisingly, the customer accepts it. Under normal circumstances, no customer would behave this way.

For further verification, the team analysed the viral video using AI detection tools such as Hive Moderation, detectvideo.ai, and undetectable.ai. The results from all three tools indicated that there is more than a 70 percent probability that the video is AI-generated.

Meanwhile, we contacted AI expert Mayank Sharma for detailed insight into the video. He stated that the video does not depict a real event but was created using AI tools or editing techniques. According to him, the movement of objects appears to “float” or change abruptly rather than being smooth—this is a common flaw in AI-generated videos.

Conclusion:

DFRAC’s fact check makes it clear that the video going viral on social media is AI-generated and has no connection to reality. Therefore, the claims made by users are false.
