Through a graphical image going viral on social media, it is being claimed that PM Modi has issued a toll-free number-1098. You can use this toll-free number to deliver leftover food to hungry children at home or at functions.
A Facebook user named Aqeedat captioned it as “Let’s join hands” and Posted a graphical image with This graphical image has the text – Good news for India, as announced by PM Modi – If you have a function/party at your home and when you see that a lot of food may be wasted, please call 1098 ( anywhere in India) don’t hesitate to call – Child Helpline. They will come and take away the food… Please make this message common, this message can help feed many children. “Please don’t break this chain” Helping hands are better than lips praying “Copy and paste / Take a screenshot and post, it only takes a few seconds to do…”
Similarly, another user, Garg Narender posted the same graphical image on Facebook.
Fact Check:
On searching this quote on the internet, we found that this emergency service number 1098 has been given on the website of Childline India Foundation (CIF), the nodal agency of the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development so that children can be looked after and supported. But there is no mention of food collection in this.
At the same time, we also found a piece of news on the website of the Deccan Chronicle regarding this graphical image, in which it has been told that people in Telangana are being misled by saying that ChildLine India Foundation will collect leftover food and distribute it to needy children.
The News Minute also published the news with the headline, “It’s a hoax: No ‘Dial 1098’ scheme to distribute extra food to children in need”.
Conclusion:
This fact check by DFRAC proves that this texture image is fake. Child line India Foundation has not started any such campaign.
