Fake claim of cornering of India over Pakistan and China in SCO summit shared

The SCO Summit 2025 is the twenty-fifth conference of the Heads of State Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). It was organized in Tianjin, China. This was the 5th time that China hosted the SCO annual summit. In connection with the SCO 2025 summit a claim is going viral online. A user on X posted the claim with the username ‘NavCom24’. The user claimed “China, Iran, Russia and Pakistan to hold a closed door NSA level meeting under SCO, India not invited.”

Another user on Facebook posted a similar claim, from the account ‘Mohammed bin Salman Fan Club’.

Fact Check

DFRAC carried out an investigation on the viral claim and ascertained that the claim is FAKE. We visited the official website and social media accounts of SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organisation). But there was no indication that there is something like Closed door NSA level meeting without India. We also found an article in ‘NDTV’ titled as Chinese Defence minister meets Rajnath Singh At SCO summit . It implies that the Indian defence minister has gone to the meeting and met the Chinese defence minister.

However, an article by ‘The Hindu’ which is titled “Pahalgam excluded: India declines to sign SCO statement” confirms that India attended the SCO Summit 2025 but did not sign the agreement.

Conclusion

Therefore, all the sources establish that no closed door level meeting with NSA was held, which included only Pakistan, China, and Russia without India. The sources confirmed that India attended the SCO meeting and the viral claim is a FAKE.
