Fact Check

The video and the claim were concluded to be misleading by DFRAC.  When we used the viral accusation on Google in a search. We failed to find a credible media report to authenticate the allegation. Next, we tried to find any similar statements placed on the official social pages of Iran, Afghanistan, and India but did not find them.

The concerned video was however posted by X by ‘Zawia News’ which is an official Afghani media house.  The media wrote a caption stating, “Iranian demonstrators have dragged out five Afghans off their vehicles in the region of Noorabad located in Iran and arrested them.”  Because Israel has increased its attacks against Afghans, arrests at the same have increased on the Afghans in Iran.

A BBC report indicated that Iran has arrested Afghans as spies working with the Israeli spy agency Mossad. Yet there are no formal records of the arrest of Afghans in relation to their involvement in the smuggling of drones or holding of fake Indian passports.

Conclusion
