Viral video of the fire tornado at a gas station, turns out FAKE

A video of a huge tornado of fire is going viral on the internet. Many users shared the video across different social media platforms. An account on X, on 9 June, shared the video with the claim “Tornado inside of a gas station, this is straight out of Beyblade”.

Users shared the same video across other social media platforms, too. On Instagram, which can be viewed here and on YouTube, which can be viewed here. Both the accounts shared the video on 9 June.

Fact Check

After the video went viral, DFRAC conducted an investigation. Firstly, we searched the claim of this video on Google and no news of any tornado at a fire station on 9 June came up. 

Later, we searched for the snippets of the video on an AI image detector website undetectable ai. Only 30% of the video was human. It is very likely that AI generated the rest of the video.

At last, we uploaded the video on an AI video detector website Hive Moderation. The video has AI-generated content confirmed.

AI-generated images and videos have become a daily flood in social media networks and are frequently employed to deceive audiences and sow misinformation and rumours. As an audience, it is nowadays very crucial for us to always look for facts and original content. We should not believe in such fake and fabricated content.

Conclusion

Therefore, the viral video is completely FAKE. The AI detector websites detected that the content is very likely to be AI-generated.
