Amidst the current flood-like situation in Assam, a video of a road flooded with muddy water is going viral on various social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
An account with the username ‘B Langthasa’, who is a digital creator from Assam, on the 1st of June had circulated the video on Facebook, claiming that the video is from the Dima Hasao district in Assam. The video has more than four thousand likes.

Fact Check
To confirm the viral claim, DFRAC checked the credibility of the video. We searched the keyframes of this video on Google Images and checked for any similar video on Assam’s local and state news channels, such as NKTV Plus and ND24, and found no such news.
After further investigation of the viral video through Google Images. The exact video was found being circulated by a local digital news channel on YouTube. The channel is a local Bangladeshi news channel named ‘Social Media 99’.

Several other people from Bangladesh have also made similar claims. The incident allegedly occurred in Bangladesh’s Sylhet district, and the official Sylhet TV channel has also shared the video.

A Facebook account also shared the same, which can be seen in this link.

Recent heavy rainfall and flash floods in Bangladesh have caused widespread flooding across Sylhet, Sunamganj, and Cox’s Bazar, leading to population displacement and significant disruption to daily life.
Conclusion
Therefore, it has been determined that the viral video claiming to show India’s Assam district is false. The incident occurred in Bangladesh’s Sylhet district and was reportedly circulated on May 31st.
