Furthermore, Amit Gupta was arrested by the Qatari authorities at the beginning of the year in connection with an alleged corruption case they are investigating. Many details will be known as soon as charges are framed.

According to the report, without divulging more details of the arrest, Gupta was detained as he was the regional head.

Tech Mahindra’s Amit Gupta, a Gujarat-based engineer, has been detained in Qatar as part of an ongoing investigation. Moreover, Gupta’s family rejects the allegations of potential data theft, as reported in the local media in Vadodara. His mother indicates his position in the company to the fact behind his arrest. Another report by Financial Express, dated 23 March 2025, mentions Gupta’s mother, Pushpa Gupta, visiting Doha to meet her son. This meeting was only for half an hour. After reaching out to the Vadodara MP Hemang Joshi, she got assurance from him about raising this issue with the government.

Conclusion

Hence, the fact check shows that the claim made on the viral post is misleading.

As of now, there is no official confirmation by the Qatari authorities on the reason behind Amit Gupta’s arrest. Allegations of data theft are reported in the media, but no official confirmation is there to back these reports.
