Fact-Check

The DFRAC team investigated this news and found it to be fake. In our investigation, no such reports have come to light supporting the above news. Contrary to this news, we came across a tweet on the X handle of BRICS News which is better known for sharing the latest updates about BRICS.

The tweet dated Feb 15, 2025 stated that fake reports were circulating claiming that BRICS planned to end strategic cooperation with India following Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the US. BRICS is not ending its strategic cooperation with India. These reports are completely false.

BRICS News denies false claims of ending strategic cooperation with India after PM Modi's US visit. The image features the BRICS 2024 summit in Russia, with international leaders seated at a conference table, surrounded by national flags of member countries. The official statement clarifies that BRICS continues its partnership with India, debunking viral misinformation.

Furthermore, we examined the viral screenshot and found that it has been digitally edited as the irrelevant date stamps have been added post-dating to 23 Feb,2025. The image in the viral screenshot was found in CGTN’s Oct 25 , 2024, when Kazan Summit of BRICS was inaugurated.

Screenshot of news articles from India Today and The Tribune about a viral incident where a New York Post journalist mocked an Indian reporter at a Trump press conference. The headlines describe the incident as controversial, with accusations of racism trending on Twitter. The image includes logos of India Today.

Moreover, no such report with the headline as given in the viral screenshot has been found on CGTN’s official website.

Conclusion

It is evident from the DFRAC fact-check that the news alleging BRICS countries planning to end strategic cooperation with India after Modi’s US visit is completely fake since evidence is not available to support this viral news.
