Fact Check: Video of Russian forces falsely linked with Israel Hezbollah conflict. Here’s the truth

On social media, video of forces laying down on the ground has gone viral. While sharing the video users claim that “Israel has caught Hezbollah terrorists and their back will be demolished”.

Fact Check

During the investigation, DFRAC found that the video was from Russia. We found a similar video on Telegram channel of ‘Operation Z: War Correspondents of the Russian Spring’ uploaded on 3 Oct 2024 stating “Our special forces paratroopers carried out a series of daring operations cleanup islands on the Dnieper River in the Kherson region, defeating and having captured divisions Armed Forces of Ukraine. The video shows the result of one from series of operations”.

Moreover, we found a media report from ‘Zmaps.ru’ published on 2 Oct 2024 stating “Special forces of the Airborne Forces captured a whole crowd of militants of the APU, crawling the islands behind the Krynki and Cossack Camps Our special forces-landingers”.

Furthermore, we also found a tweet from ‘Ukraine/Russia News’ tweeted on 3 Oct 2024 mentioning similar facts regarding the above viral video.

Conclusion

It is evident from the DFRAC’s fact check that the viral video is of Russian forces capturing Ukrainian forces. It is not related to Israel Hezbollah conflict.Therefore, the claim of social media users is misleading.
