A video of the train derailing and falling into a field is going viral on social media. While sharing the video users claim that “This is the power of Make in India. Trains are ploughing the fields. The railway minister has just provided this facility to Bhiwani farmers, who will benefit a lot from this. India will soon reach the top three economies due to this. Wow, Railway Minister”. Fact Check
On investigation, DFRAC found that this video is 2 Years old and from Solapur, Maharashtra. We found a report from Patrika published on 22 September 2022 stating “Big news is coming from Solapur district of Maharashtra. Where a goods train going from Solapur to Pune derailed in Karmala taluka. Two engines and two coaches of a goods train carrying cement derailed near Track Kem. After the incident, the engine of the train entered the field. Fortunately, there was no loss of life in this accident”. (English Translation)
Furthermore, we also found a similar video on YouTube uploaded by ABP Majha on 4 September 2022 titled “Freight Train Accident in Solapur: A freight train derailed directly into a farm, incident in Karmala”.
Conclusion
It is evident from the DFRAC’s fact check that this video is old and from Solapur, Maharashtra not from Bhiwani, Haryana. Therefore, the claim of social media users is misleading.
