Fact-Check
Upon reverse-searching the keyframes generated from the viral video, the DFRAC team found a similar video on the X handle of Jordonian media outlet @khaberni with the caption: “Mass flight of Ashkelon residents ahead of the Abu Ubaida deadline (5 o’clock )”. The video was posted on oct 10, 2023.
Further researches in this regard led us to reports from Daily star and ABS-CBN News publsihed in Oct 2023. According to reports, Hamas spokesman Abu Ubaida issued a warning to residents of Israel’s port of Ashkelon to leave the area by 5 p.m. (1400 GMT) without giving any further details before the attack.

It is clear from DFRAC’s fact-check that the the viral video has been misleadingly shared on X. It is not recent one. Originally, it dates back to Oct 2023 and shows citizens of Israel’s port of Ashkelon fleeing the area after a warning issued by Hamas Spokesperson.
