On social media, a picture of a grave covered with a grill goes viral. While sharing the picture users claim that in the Middle East, a father has secured his daughter’s grave by covering it with an iron grill and locking it to prevent her from r*pe.
A user named CilComLFC wrote “Parents in Pakistan are now locking the graves of their dead daughters to prevent them from being dug up and r*ped. Western countries need to stop importing millions of men who do not have the intellectual capacity to understand that r*pe is wrong”.
Fact Check:
On investigation, DFRAC found that the picture was neither from the Middle East nor from Pakistan. This picture is from Hyderabad in the Indian state of Telangana.
In this video, a person is saying that this is the area of Darabjang Colony, Madanpet-Hyderabad. The lock has been put on this grave so that no one should bury someone else in the same grave. In this video, it can also be heard saying that this is not the graveyard of Pakistan but the graveyard of Hyderabad in India.
Our team has found many similarities between the viral photo and the video posted by the user. Which can be seen in the graphics given here.
Conclusion:
It is evident from the DFRAC fact check that social media users have shared a photo of grills and locks installed on a grave in a cemetery from Hyderabad and not from Pakistan and the Middle East. The user also claims that grills and locks have been installed on the grave to prevent r*pe is also false.
