On social media, Bangladeshi right-wing users shared news of Indian PM Narendra Modi. While sharing the news users claim that Due to Putin’s busy schedule, the Russian authorities reduced Modi’s visit to Moscow from 5 days to 2 days.
A user named Faryal Sikder wrote in Bengali language, which translated to English is, “Due to Putin’s busy schedule, Russian authorities reduced Modi’s Moscow visit from 5 days to 2 days.”
Fact Check:
On investigation, DFRAC found a report from Russian news agencies TASS and Sputnik. These reports quoted Kremlin officer Yuri Ushakov “We are preparing a visit of the prime minister of India, the dates are announced by the parties in agreement.
Yuri Ushakov, said “I can confirm that we are preparing a visit of the prime minister of India. We cannot announce the dates yet, because the dates are announced by the parties in agreement. But we are actively preparing, I will highlight again, that this visit will take place”.
Furthermore, we also found many Indian media reports mentioning “The possible visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi may be for two days.
Although, the dates of the Prime Minister’s visit have not been announced yet nor has it been officially announced”.
Moreover, we did not find any media reports mentioning that due to Putin’s busy schedule, the Russian authorities reduced Modi’s visit from 5 days to 2 days.
Conclusion:
It is evident from the DFRAC Fact check that a statement has come from Yuri Ushakov regarding Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Russia. Therefore, the claim that due to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s busy schedule, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit has been reduced to 2 days instead of 5 days is misleading.
