A video showing flames emerging from a car has recently surfaced on social media platform X(formerly Twitter). The video has been shared by a pak-based handle with the claim that Indian Intelligence Officer Vikash killed by unknown men when his car was being lobbed with a hand grenade in Uttam Nagar, Delhi.
An account with username @Pak1stTeam shared this video on X and wrote: “Uttam Nagar, New Delhi Indian intelligence officer Vikash killed by unknown men when they lobbed a hand grenade in his car”
Fact-Check
The DFRAC team investigated the viral video by converting it into some key frames and reverse-searched them on google. During this process, we found a similar video available online since May 14, 2024. The video was shared by India Daily Live on X with the caption: ” A moving Brezza car suddenly caught fire late in the evening in Uttam Nagar area of New Delhi. However, it is not yet known how the fire started. But luckily there were no casualties in the accident”
Moreover, another similar video was found on the YouTube account of Navdeep News dated May 14, 2024 with same caption.
Conclusion
It is evident from DFRAC’s fact-check that the video claiming the killing of Indian Intelligence Officer Vikash in Uttam nagar, Delhi has been falsely employed with the baseless claim. In reality, the video is from May 2024 and related to car fire incident of Uttam nagar, Delhi.
Analysis: Misleading
