Did an Indian-Origin Man Molest Air Hostess In Bali-Melbourne Flight? Truth Behind Viral Claim

A video is going viral on social media platforms. In this video, a man can be seen trying to molest an Air hostess on a flight. He was restrained by the Passengers and arrested by the Police later. The video has been shared by many users with the claim that the disruptive man is of Indian origin named Naren Patel.

Sharing this Video on X(Twitter), @AsianDigest, a Pak-based handle that is known for disseminating numerous false news wrote: “Indian man Naren Patel who tried to molest Aur hostess on Bali Australia flight was restrained by passengers and arrested by Police”.

Fact-Check

The DFRAC team converted the viral video into some keyframes and reverse-searched it on Google. Meanwhile, we found that several media outlets such as the New York Post, NDTV World, and CTN News reported this incident but there was no mention of Indian-origin Guy in their media reports.

According to a media report by the New York Post, a 28-year-old man was detained on a Qantas flight after allegedly attacking and threatening to stab passengers and a crew member. The incident took place on Qantas flight QF46 between Bali and Melbourne. Witnesses reported that the man appeared agitated and was screaming and shouting before the incident occurred. Some witnesses also claimed that the man attacked other passengers as well.

Conclusion

It is clear from DFRAC’s Fact-Check that the disruptive man shown in the viral video is not of Indian origin. Therefore, the claim of social media users is False.
