Users are claiming on Social media that a bomb blast took place in Kestopur,  West Bengal. Due to the appeasement policy of the Bengal government, the state lies on a heap of Gunpowder while people are living in the shadow of Fear. Users are demanding a detailed investigation in this case from the Central government.

A user by the name of Rahul Kumar wrote: “@Mamta Banerjee.There is news of a terrible blast coming from Keshtopur in government-ruled West Bengal. Due to the appeasement of a particular religion and the state-funded TMC syndicate, it seems as if Bengal is sitting on a heap of gunpowder and the people there are living under the shadow of fear! @HMOIndia and @AmitShah It is a humble request to Mr. that such incidents could be a part or experiment of many big conspiracies and it should be investigated seriously -Who is supporting them financially? Who is training them to make bombs? Is the government or Bangladeshi Rohingya infiltrators being used in such incidents?”

On searching some keywords in the context of the above viral claim, the DFRAC team found some media reports dated Dec 22, 2023 revealing that a cylinder explosion occurred inside a fast food stall in the crowded Kestopur area.

According to a media report by news website The Telegraph, Deputy commissioner of airport zone, Aishwarya Sagar said: “Prima facie it was an LPG cylinder explosion. A forensic team’s initial opinion points in that direction, too,”

Conclusion

It is clear from DFRAC’ s Fact-Check that the claim of social media users stating Bomb blast took place in Kestopur is misleading since the incident was about Cylinder explosion inside a fast-food stall.
