Fact Check
The DFRAC team converted the video into some keyframes and reverse-searched it on Google. We found a report of ETV BharatMP which was published on 31 October 2023. According to this, during the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, Ujjain’s Saint Avdhesh Puri announced to contest as an independent, but he supported BJP candidate Mohan Yadav in the press conference.
According to the report, “Paramahamsa Saint Avadheshpuri Maharaj of Ujjain Swastik Peeth had announced to contest the elections as an independent on October 25. He had accused the BJP of neglecting the saints in the elections and also accused the BJP candidate regarding Simhanstha’s land, Shipra purification, and Mahakal temple. Also announced to contest elections as an independent candidate from the South Assembly constituency. At the same time, he had said that there were other saints along with him. Regarding this, he also held a meeting with the saints and announced to field an independent candidate from Ujjain North.”
Conclusion
Hence, it is clear from #DFRAC fact check that the video is from the time of the MP assembly elections when Avdhesh Puri had announced to contest elections as an independent, making many allegations about the BJP candidate. Later he supported the BJP candidate. The viral video is from the time of the Assembly elections, therefore, the claim made by users is misleading.
