Amidst the Israel-Hamas conflict, many videos are circulating on social media with false claims. One such video is going viral on social media and many users are claiming that Hamas supporters wanted to attack Israel with fireworks.
A verified account on X named @MeghUpdates shared a video and wrote “Hamas supporters in Turkey wanted to attack Israel consultate in Istanbul with fireworks but enjoy”.

Fact Check
To know the truth of the viral video, the DFRAC team converted the video into some keyframes and reverse-searched it on Google. We found the same video was uploaded on the YouTube channel of Sky News Australia on 30 May 2023. Its caption reads “Fireworks explode in civilian’s hands at Turkish election celebration”.
Media Reports
When we investigated further, we also found the video on the website of The Weekly Times uploaded on 30 May 2023 which stated, “Fireworks exploded in the hands of a Turkish civilian who – along with thousands of others – was attending a celebration for president Tayyip Erdogan’s reelection on Sunday (May 28) night”.
Moreover, Haber in their report stated, “During the election celebration in Fatih, Istanbul, a person dropped a fireworks battery and turned the place into a war zone”.
Conclusion
Therefore, it is clear from the DFRAC’s fact check that the claim is misleading as this video is from Turkey’s election celebration and also, the video is 5 months old.
