A user named Manjit Yadav tweeted this video and wrote: “The opposition leader who gave knowledge to the country’s Prime Minister on women’s safety, watch this video of Bihar once; Jungle Raj is still there in Bihar, but no opposition leader will comment on it, they can only do politics of appeasement”@yadavtejashwi@yadavtejashwi#hindujanjagarti
Moreover, several social media users are also sharing this video with similar claims.
Fact-check
To verify the claims regarding the above viral video, the Dfrac team converted this video into some keyframes and then reverse-searched it on Google. Meanwhile, we found this video posted on a social media platform named ‘Reddit’ two years ago, but it was deleted later.
In addition to that, we searched some keywords on YouTube and found a media report uploaded by ABP news on October 7, 2021, with the caption: “She kept screaming…miscreants continued their offensive behavior, video goes viral. Four arrested”.
Moreover, according to a report by Dainik Bhaskar, “The woman kept shouting and 6 miscreants kept pulling her saree. Kept teasing her chest. A day after its video went viral, the police became active on Wednesday and arrested 4 people in the Dariyapur area in Bihar”.
Live Hindustan also covered this incident and the video was uploaded on October 6, 2021.
It should be noted that before August 10, 2022, Bihar was governed by Nitish Kumar’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as part of the coalition’s National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Conclusion
The Dfrac’s Fact-Check proves that the viral video is two years old, therefore, the claim being shared by social media users is misleading.
