Fact Check: The viral video of goat theft from a moving truck is not from UP, it is from Maharashtra

A video is going viral on social media, where it can be seen that some people are stealing goats from a moving truck. A man boards a moving truck and throws several goats one by one onto the road. After this, the person himself gets down from the moving truck on the bonnet of a car.

Social media users are circulating this video, claiming that it is from the Kanpur-Unnao highway. And some users are sharing this video in the name of Kanpur-Lucknow Highway. Tweeting this video, a user named Mohit Sharma wrote – “Gang stealing goats from trucks on Kanpur Unnao highway, also steals from luxury cars. Watch the video carefully.”

Fact Check:

DFRAC team fact-checked the viral video and found a tweet by Unnao Police with reference to the video. Police said that the viral video is not from Unnao and further clarified that the video is from Igatpuri Ghoti Road in Maharashtra.

At the same time, the UP Police also tweeted in the context of the viral video and said that this video has been found to be of Igatpuri Ghoti Road in Maharashtra and hence, is not related to Uttar Pradesh.

Conclusion:

It is clear from DFRAC’s fact check that the video going viral is not from Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur-Unnao highway but from Maharashtra’s Igatpuri Ghoti road. That’s why the claims of social media users are misleading.
