Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai shared a video of the Vande Bharat Express running under the flyover of the expressway corridor between Bengaluru and Mysuru with the help of a drone.
He has captioned this video in his tweet: “ What a view! 10-lane Bengaluru- Mysuru Expressway alongside Vande Bharat Express, a visual depicting the story of world-class infrastructure and unprecedented growth in Karnataka. Under Hon’ble PM @narendramodi Ji, our Double Engine government is working wonders in the state. “

This tweet of CM Bommai has been retweeted and shared by other social media users. PM Modi re-tweeted and captioned: “Our people deserve the best possible infrastructure, which our government will always work hard to provide. Our strides in infra creation have been widely lauded.”
Fact Check:
The DFRAC team watched the video carefully to fact-check the viral video. During this time, we found that the viral video clearly shows that the Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway is not 10 lanes, but actually it is 6 lanes.
During this time we found that many users on social media have reacted to this tweet.
A user named Birds Eye captioned, “Even after adding two railway tracks, it is only counting up to 8… Where are the other two?”
Senior science journalist R Prasad retweeted, “Well, it should have been 10 lanes, but in Karnataka, the BJP government in Karnataka had to pay 40% commission to the contractors, so it could only be 6 lanes.” The Chief Minister of Karnataka is telling both lies and truth simultaneously. Lies about non-existent 4 Lane and truth about corruption”
Conclusion:
It is clear from this fact-check of DFRAC that the viral video is of a 6-lane expressway and not a 10-lane expressway, so the claim made by CM Bommai is misleading.
