A claim is getting viral on social media sites regarding the Indian National Congress Party election symbol ‘Hand’s claw’. According to the claim, Congress’s ‘claw’ symbol has been taken from Karbala in Iraq, one of the holy sites of the Muslim religion. Social media users are also sharing a graphical picture with their posts.

“Hazrat Imam Hussain (Ali), who was killed in the field of Karbala, is considered a symbol of Islamic valor, Islamic struggle, and Islamic sacrifice. Idol or photo worship is haram in Islam, so only these 5 fingered hand claws are worshiped as the top mark by not worshiping any photo or idol. The Congress made the symbol of this Islamicism its election symbol. 99% of Hindus were not aware of this, while all Muslims knew this from the beginning, but no one used to tell that Hindus should not stop voting for Congress. Muslims remained more strongly associated with Muslims due to their religious mark, while Hindus were associated with Congress due to a lack of knowledge and congress bonding. ”

To analyze the reality of the viral claim the team of DFRAC did a simple search on Google. We found a report from Dainik Bhaskar. The report titled – ” No statue in Hemambika temple only the two hands of the goddess: Congress’s hand’s paw inspired by this temple, Indira Gandhi had special faith”.

According to this report- “Indira Gandhi choose the hand paw keeping Hemambika temple in mind. Hemambika Temple is one of the most unique Mata temples in the world. There is no statute of a mother here. There are only two hands that are worshiped as a goddess. This temple is also called Imoor Bhagwati Temple. It is in Kalekulangara tehsil of Palakkad district of Kerala. It is believed that Lord Parshuram established this temple. ”

Regarding more information in this context, the team of DFRAC found a tweet from Congress leader Digvijay Singh. (English Translation) “This is a historical truth that the BJP and the RSS always used to tell something else. No statue is in Hemambika temple, only the two hands of the goddess: Congress’s hand paw inspired by this temple, Indira Gandhi had special faith”

At the same time, many other media reports have also mentioned that the election symbol of the Congress party has been taken from the Hemambika temple

Conclusion:

It is clear from the verification of DFRAC that the Congress symbol has not been taken from Hazrat Imam Hussain, who was killed in Karbala. According to media reports, the election symbol has been taken from the Hemambika temple in the Palakkad district of Kerala. Therefore, the claim made by social media users is fake.
