Recently, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), taking action in 15 states, has detained several members of the Popular Front of India (PFI). Protests were also held in many parts of the country against this action. Amidst these protests, a video went viral on social media. In which some youths can be seen raising slogans. The video claimed that PFI workers raised slogans of Pakistan Zindabad.
This video was first shared by news agency ANI. Also wrote that #WATCH! Maharashtra: ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans were heard outside the District Collector’s office in Pune city yesterday, where PFI cadres gathered against the recent ED-CBI-Police raid against their outfit. Some cadres were detained by the police; they were arrested this morning.
Apart from this, Zee News anchor Shivangi Thakur also made a similar claim. Sharing the video, he wrote – “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans were raised at the #PFI protest rally in Pune, Maharashtra.
A similar claim was also made by Aaj Tak anchor Shubhankar Mishra. Sharing the video, he wrote in his tweet that there was a presence of 60-70 people with the slogan ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ raised in the rally of PFI in Pune.
Not only this, many big media houses also published reports on the basis of this video.
Fact Check
To check the above claim, the DFRAC team first listened carefully to the viral video. The team did not hear ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ but ‘Popular Front Zindabad’ in the entire video.
Along with this we also got a report from The Free Press General during our investigation. In which Pune Police was told that the claim of raising Pakistan Zindabad slogans is false. The report said Deputy Commissioner of Police Sagar Patil earlier said, “We have already registered a case against PFI members for illegal gathering and we are looking into the matter of sloganeering.” However, the police have now said that the claim is false.
Conclusion
Hence the claim of PFI workers raising slogans of Pakistan Zindabad is fake.
