A video is getting viral on the internet in which five, or six people are chasing out some people from the truck. Meanwhile, many social media users are sharing this video with the claims that Hindus got frightened away by Muslims. Further, sharing the video a Twitter user names Sanni Mathur wrote the caption, “This is the situation now, even 2047 has not come. 100 Hindus ran away in fear of 5 Muslims.”
Similarly, many other users have shared this video with the same claim.
Fact Check
On our fact-check analysis, we found that the same video was uploaded by the official Twitter account of Karnataka State Police Factcheck on May 11, 2022. Further, the near translation of the Kannada caption of the video is, “True facts about the video clip: Muslims chased away the Hindus who came to chant in front of the Hubli mosque.”
Moreover, we also found the same video on the YouTube channel named No1 News Bd. They uploaded the video on May 5, 2022.
Further, on simple keyword research, we found many articles on this topic. We also found an article related to this incident on the site of Karnataka state Police Factcheck.
Conclusion
Therefore, from this DFRAC factcheck, it is clear that the context in which the video is being shared on social media platforms is deceptive. Hence, the caption of the users along with the video is misleading.
