Rishi Sunak is not yet elected as the Prime Minister of Britain- Read Fact Check

A post is being shared on social media claiming that Indian-origin Rishi Sunak has been elected as Britain’s new Prime Minister. Many social media users are also congratulating Rishi Sunak on becoming the new PM of Britain by sharing the picture.

A Facebook user writes, “Rishi Sunak became the Prime Minister of Britain! Rishi Sunak is the son-in-law of Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murthy. The UK which ruled India for two hundred and fifty years, today its PM has become an Indian. Congratulations.”

Many other social media users shared the pictures with captions.

Fact Check:

To investigate the viral claim, we searched on Google through keywords. During this, we received a report published recently on the website of BBC. According to the report, Rishi Sunak got 115 votes in the third round of voting held on Monday. After which he has come to the fore in the race for Prime Minister.

No valid news Sites have covered the news which confirms Rishi as the new elected Prime minister.

We further searched the official Twitter account of Rishi Sunak. In which he has shared a video and thanked all the people who voted for him in the third round.

Conclusion:

The process of choosing a new UK prime minister is underway and the new name will be announced in September. Until then Boris Johnson will remain the caretaker PM of Britain.
