An image of a group of women protesting breaking down the police’s shield in Mexico is going on the internet. Users are claiming that these picture is of a protest regarding when abortion rights where these women marched to the presidential palace & attempted to burn it down. Further, along with the image Rima Isam Anabtawi wrote, “In Mexico ?? when abortion rights were up for debate they marched to the presidential palace & attempted to burn it down. The Mexican government quickly decriminalized Abortion nationwide soon after that. Does this mean abortion is legal in Mexico? No. They are still fighting for rights but this was a huge step in that direction. A historic one.”

On reverse image search we found a report of reuters. In the report we found the viral image.

According to the report the image is of a protest in Mexico when women kicked police officer’s shield during a protest outside the National Palace on international Women’s day in Mexico city, March,8, 2021.

Conclusion

Hence, the viral image is not related with the protest regarding the abortion rights. Therefore, the claims with the viral image is misleading.
