A video is being shared on social media featuring Azad Samaj Party (Kanshiram) president and Nagina Lok Sabha MP Chandrashekhar Azad and his supporters. The video also shows an argument between Chandrashekhar Azad and police personnel. Alongside this footage, an image showing Chandrashekhar Azad in an injured condition is also included, with the claim that he was injured during the clash.

DFRAC’s investigation found that the viral image showing Chandrashekhar Azad as injured has been digitally altered. In the original image, Chandrashekhar Azad can be seen sitting on a sofa. Meanwhile, Yusuf Ansari, national spokesperson of the Azad Samaj Party (ASP), refuted the viral claim and said that Chandrashekhar Azad was not injured and is completely safe and healthy.
To investigate the viral image, the DFRAC team first conducted a reverse image search on Google. We found that in the original image, Chandrashekhar Azad is sitting on a sofa and there are no visible injury marks on his face. The image was posted by different users at various times in 2025 and 2026. More recently, it was posted by a user named Nitin Prajapati, along with a comment about internal differences within the BSP.
We have presented a collage showing that the original image of Chandrashekhar Azad was edited to add a bandage to his forehead and injury marks to his face.
We also searched for the viral video showing an argument between Chandrashekhar Azad and his supporters and the police. We found that the video is from Barabanki, where Chandrashekhar Azad had an argument with police personnel while travelling to Gonda. Several Bhim Army supporters have shared the video. On Instagram, a user named shivkrchawla shared the viral video and wrote, “A response is necessary to the Barabanki incident!” The post claimed that while travelling from Lucknow to Gonda, a protest and alleged attack took place in Barabanki in the presence of the police and administration involving Nagina MP Chandrashekhar Azad’s convoy. It further stated that Azad had warned of democratic protests during the Chief Minister’s programmes if those responsible were not called and made to acknowledge their mistake. The post also raised questions about whether law and order is equal for everyone.

During the investigation, we found coverage of the entire incident on the UP Tak YouTube channel. Its description stated that political tensions had intensified in Uttar Pradesh over the Vinod Sahani case in Gonda. Amid opposition leaders, including Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leaders, heading towards Gonda, the situation escalated further after Azad Samaj Party president and Nagina MP Chandrashekhar Azad also travelled there.
According to the description, Chandrashekhar Azad said that while travelling to Gonda, his supporters were stopped at the Shahabpur toll plaza. Subsequently, police stopped him in the Ramnagar police station area, where a heated argument took place between the police and Chandrashekhar Azad. Azad accused the police of misbehaving with his workers, using casteist slurs and pushing them. He also claimed that his convoy was pelted with stones in the Budhwal-Ramnagar area. Chandrashekhar Azad warned that the Azad Samaj Party would launch a protest if no action was taken on the allegations. However, the allegations made by him could not be independently verified.
For further clarification regarding the viral image, the DFRAC team contacted Yusuf Ansari, national spokesperson of the Azad Samaj Party. Ansari refuted the viral claim and said that Chandrashekhar Azad had not sustained any serious injuries and was completely safe. However, he said that there had been an attempt to attack some vehicles in his convoy.
Conclusion:
DFRAC’s fact-check makes it clear that the image showing Azad Samaj Party president Chandrashekhar Azad in an injured condition and being shared on social media is edited. Therefore, the claim made by the social media user is misleading
