An image has been going viral on X (formerly Twitter) and other social networking platforms which suggests that Google would be placing its Scheduling apps on “view only” mode i.e. users will no longer be able to create new or edit existing appointments on any platform, including the web, iOS, and Android platforms starting from October 1, 2024, and will be taken down complete by December 31, 2024.

After conducting a thorough investigation, DFRAC discovered that the circulated image was an altered screenshot of the Google Jamboard shutdown email. This post was determined to be an engagement bait, lacking any official notice from Google or Gmail. The team found no credible evidence to support the claim of impending shutdown.
Conclusion
Therefore, it is confirmed by DFRAC that the viral image showing Google notifying its users of the shutdown of its scheduling applications is misleading. It’s Google Jamboard that is shutting down not the scheduling applications.
