A video is going viral on X (formerly Twitter) with a caption, “This is the CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman… Showing off his new world of A.I. using blank rounds. Humans have this thing called decency. They don’t kill for the sake of the fact that they can kill. AI controlling f*cking robots? Now that’s a whole different thing. AI has no decency. It only knows what it’s told.” It depicts a violent killer robot attacking human figures under the supervision of supposed Sam Altman.
Fact Check
Upon investigating, however, via reverse image search of keyframes from the video, DFRAC found that the video is a computer-generated from October 26, 2019. It was posted on YouTube by channel ‘Corridor’ intended as a “comedic parody”, as explained in the description box under the video. Moreover, the man in the video is not Sam Altman. Therefore, it is a computer-generated video with misleading caption.
Conclusion
Therefore, it is confirmed by DFRAC that the viral video of a killer AI robot attacking human figures being circulated is a computer-generated video. It is taken from YouTube and thus is misleading.
