A screenshot of a tweet from BBC World is going viral on social media. In this tweet, BBC supposedly stated that its documentary on PM Modi was based on lies.
The tweet reads, “If you can welcome our documentary on Narendra Modi, which was based on lies. Learn to tolerate “The Kerala Story” which is based on real-life incidents. Freedom of Expression cannot be one-sided.”

Fact-check:
To verify the authenticity of the above claim, DFRAC team searched Google with relevant keywords. However, we were not able to find any news related to this tweet. After that, we checked the official Twitter handle of BBC World Service and even conducted an advanced search, but they could not find any such tweet.
It is important to note that in the current year, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) released a documentary in two episodes titled “India: The Modi Question” based on an unpublished report of the British Foreign Office. The Indian government banned this documentary as well. In this documentary, PM Modi’s political career was shown, and questions were raised about the death of at least 2000 people in the violence that took place in Gujarat in 2002 while he was the Chief Minister.
