Being a secular country entire India is celebrating different occasions in the holy month of April. As one community can be seen celebrating Ramnavami, the others are celebrating Ramzan, Mahavir Jayanti, Good Friday, etc.
Meanwhile a verified Twitter account by the name Keya Gosh, who according to her Twitter bio is an India First Media Panelist of BJP Bengal shared a post claiming that Presidency College’s Eden Hindu Hostel organized Iftar on the occasion of Ramadan, but does not allow Saraswati Pooja within the premises.
Sharing the pictures of Iftar being celebrated, she tweets, “Dawat-e-iftar in Presidency College’s Eden Hindu hostel.
Plz, remember, Presidency University did not allow Saraswati Puja within the compound citing it goes against “secular” nature of the institution.”

This tweet gained the instant attention of social media users as it got retweeted by more than three thousand people and liked by almost seven thousand people.
Fact Check:
To investigate the veracity of the viral claim DFRAC team did a keyword search on Google When we searched for news reports on whether Saraswati Puja is observed in Eden Hindu Hostel or not. We found a social media post in Bangla language from a page named “Stand With Hindu Hostel” It shows pictures of Saraswati Puja allegedly being celebrated there.
The team when scrolled through the comment section of the tweet found many people sharing the pictures of Saraswati pooja that was held in the Eden Hindu Hostel. It was also mentioned that this practice happens every year.
we further found that the campus of Eden Hindu Hostel is not connected to the Presidency University campus and is located between institutions like Hare School, University of Calcutta, and the Darbhanga Building with a distance of 500 meters.
And according to the report by ETV West Bengal Presidency University does not allow any religious activities within the campus since the year 2016.
Conclusion:
From the fact check it is clear that Eden Hindu Hostel did celebrate Saraswati puja and Iftaar with in the campus, also both Presidency University and Eden Hindu Hostel are two different entities and Presidency university does not allow any type of religious practices within the campus.
Hence, the claim by Keya Gosh who is followed by Prime minister Narendra Modi himself is Misleading.
