A video is getting viral on social media sites. It can be seen in the video that a mob of people reportedly destroyed and set on fire a Hindu temple. Social media users are claiming that the 100-year-old Shiva temple was demolished in Pakistan.
By sharing the video a social media user named Amardip Potfode captioned: “ See how 100 years old Lord Shiva’s temple was demolished in Pakistan.
And here the Ram Janmabhoomi temple built after the decision of the Supreme Court is knocking not only the “green insects” but also some so-called secular Hindus.” ( English Translation)

Fact Check:
To know the reality of the viral video the team of DFRAC did some keyword searches and found that News Indian Express uploaded this report on 30th December 2020, the heading states- “ Hindu temple destroyed, set on fire by a mob in Pakistan’s Khyber province.”

The report further states, A mob of 100 people led by local Muslim clerics reportedly destroyed and set on fire a Hindu temple in Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Times of India has also covered this report with the headline- “ Angry mob destroys Hindu temple in northwestern Pakistan.”

The report of times of India further mentions that prior to the demolition, a rightwing Jamiat Ulema I Islam (Fazl) (JUI-F) rally was held nearby where speakers delivered fiery speeches. After the rally, the charged crowd marched towards the temple, stormed it, and set it ablaze.
The demolished temple was constructed at a place where Shri paramhans Swami Advaitanand Ji Maharaj died in 1919. A temple was built at his samadhi spot. His followers, mostly from southern Sindh Province used to visit the place to pay their respects.

It is clear from the fact check of DFRAC and several media reports that the video of a 100-year-old Hindu temple destroyed by locals in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province is from December 2020 not recent. Therefore, the claim made by social media users is Misleading.
