Correction Policy
At DFRAC, accuracy, fairness, and transparency are central to our fact-checking work. We strive to ensure that all published content is correct at the time of publication. However, if errors occur, we are committed to correcting them promptly and clearly.
Scope of this Policy
This policy applies to all fact-checks, reports, explainers, articles, headlines, graphics, captions, social media posts, newsletters, and other editorial content published by DFRAC.
How to Report an Error
Readers, sources, and stakeholders may notify us of possible errors or request corrections by contacting us at [email protected]. To help us assess the issue efficiently, complainants should provide:
- A link or title of the content in question
- A clear description of the suspected error
- Supporting evidence or source material, where available
- Contact details for follow-up, if needed
Review Process
All correction requests are reviewed by our editorial team. We assess:
- Whether the claim of error is factual and supported by evidence
- Whether clarification, update, correction, or no action is appropriate
- Whether the issue materially affects the overall conclusion of the fact-check or article
- We may contact the complainant for additional information where necessary.
Types of Corrections
Depending on the nature and seriousness of the issue, we may take one or more of the following actions:
- Minor Corrections
For typographical mistakes, formatting issues, broken links, grammar errors, or minor wording problems that do not change the meaning or conclusion, we may correct the content without a formal correction note.
- Substantive Corrections
For factual errors, misleading wording, inaccurate context, incorrect data, or omitted relevant information, we will update the content and add a clear correction note explaining:
What was changed
Why it was changed
The date of the correction
- Major Errors / Revised Conclusions
Where an error significantly affects the findings, rating, or conclusion of a fact-check, we will promptly publish a prominent correction, editor’s note, or updated version clearly stating the revised conclusion. Where appropriate, we may retract or replace the original content.
- Updates
Where new evidence emerges after publication, we may update content to reflect additional verified information. Updates will be clearly distinguished from corrections where possible.
Cases Where No Response May Be Required
Some complaints may not require a substantive response or correction, including:
- Anonymous or abusive complaints
- Complaints lacking evidence or sufficient detail
- Objections based solely on disagreement with editorial judgment rather than factual accuracy
- Repeated complaints already reviewed and addressed
- Requests outside the scope of this policy
Transparency
Where significant corrections are made, we will clearly indicate that a correction has occurred so readers can understand the nature of the change.
Timeframe
We aim to review legitimate correction requests as promptly as possible, though complex matters may require additional time for verification.
Independence
All correction decisions are made independently by our editorial team in accordance with evidence and our editorial standards.
